Prepare and clean the wood: Sand the wood surface, removing rough spots and opening up the wood grain for better stain absorption. Wipe away dust with a tack cloth. Test the stain: Before tackling the entire piece, test a small hidden area to ensure the color is spot-on and effectively neutralizes the red tones.
Denatured alcohol. Murphy oil soap. Clean the wood surface. Put a little amount of Murphy oil soap on the rug and then cover the paint surface properly. Put on safety gear (gloves, mask, goggles) Then, rub the paint area with a little amount of denatured alcohol on the rug. You will see the old paint start to be removed.
